Christian Perspective on Alcohol
The question that we often ask is CAN a Christian Drink, but the real question is SHOULD a Christian drink. Is social drinking to be a part of a Christian’s life? How many people who have been set free from alcoholism are social drinkers. The wine in the New Testament was different than the wine of today. The words used in the Hebrew and Greek language that are interpreted WINE when we read our Bible CAN ALSO mean a non-fermented drink, like grape juice, or a fermented drink. New Testament WINE could only have a maximum alcohol content of 11%. The NT WINE that was fermented was very OFTEN diluted with water before the people drank it.
